To provide females the structure, supervision, support, and assistance they need to move beyond who they were to become who they want to be.
We envision a world where your past does
not define your future.

Upon arrival at Journey Forward to Success, one of the first tasks for new residents is to complete an intake evaluation with one of our community Core Service Agencies. The evaluation determines what mental health services each female will need to transition successfully into the community. A referral is then made to our community partner to evaluate physical health needs. Residents then work with their dedicated case manager to establish a plan to address outstanding physical health concerns.
All residents participate in the Journey Forward to Success Workforce and Life Development Program. The program combines professional and personal skills to prepare residents for employment and to succeed once employed. Joblessness is the most important predictor of homelessness, incarceration, and recidivism. Upon completing the Workforce and Life Development Program, graduates will obtain career-focused employment with a livable wage to support themselves and their families.
Upon arrival at Journey Forward to Success, all residents complete an intake evaluation with one of our Education Partners to determine educational level. If a resident needs education support, the resident and evauluator will make a plan to address their education needs. Education needs addressed immediately are literacy issues and GED preparation. Residents are encouraged to start or complete higher-level education or pursue trade skills.
The Journey Forward to Success Residential Program addresses the immediate need for housing upon release from jail or prison; however, the program is six months, and residents need permanent housing upon exiting the Residential Program. The house offers double room occupancy that our residents can affordably rent temporarily. In future years, we hope to open more such communities to ease the shortage of accessible housing for reentering females. Returning citizens are at a high risk of homelessness due to hiring and housing practices that discriminate against those with criminal records. In addition, those experiencing homelessness are at an increased risk of incarceration; therefore, preventing homelessness is critical to reducing recidivism.
With respect to female reentry, family/community reconnection is one of the most important factors in becoming successful. Journey Forward to Success believes building a strong, supportive community helps females to succeed in their future endeavors. This community can include family, friends, their Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous network, religious groups, etc.
Through our trauma-informed approach with each and every female that ensures continued success.
